Five years ago, Jill and Todd Starcevich moved to Greensboro, North Carolina. Jill was itching to get back into work while Todd was feeling ready to change careers – which initiated their conversation of starting their own company.
Jill initially had a career in marketing for a healthcare analytics firm but left the workforce eight years ago when they had their first child. Todd, on the other hand, was most recently a vice president overseeing omnichannel retail strategies at a large consumer apparel brand. Before that, he had held an executive role at a consumer data technology company.
“We had always kind of talked about starting our own company or buying a business,” explained Jill. “We figured if we don’t do it now, there’s never going to be a perfect time.”
While Jill and Todd didn’t initially seek out a business in the home health care industry, they knew they wanted to own a business that offered services in high-demand and had a strong potential for growth.
Their understanding of exactly what they wanted out of their own business led them to the perfect match – BrightStar Care.
A Home Health Care Franchise with the Right Mission
“We liked how BrightStar Care had a philosophy focused on the critical aspects of their services,” said Todd. “And most importantly, we are caring for people in need.”
Jill and Todd both had parents who required in-home care before they passed away – so they understand the importance of having good, reliable, in-home skilled care.
Not only do Jill and Todd have personal experience with home healthcare services, but they also understand how they can positively impact their local economy.
“We like how we are a big source of hiring, and as we grow our business, we’ll create jobs,” explained Todd. “The fact that we will be creating jobs in Greensboro and the Triad Area is a major motivator to make the business successful.”
The Adrenaline Rush of First-Time Franchisees
When Jill and Todd were looking into BrightStar Care, they interviewed other current franchise owners to get an in-depth look at the business model. They were impressed by how other owners talked about their location and the BrightStar Care organization as a whole.
“You could hear the excitement in their voices when they talked about BrightStar Care,” said Jill. “And as we started working more closely with BrightStar Care, everybody we interacted with at the corporate level was just phenomenal.”
Jill and Todd signed their agreement with BrightStar Care at the end of July and are already looking forward to future growth. Having bought an existing BrightStar Care agency, they are jumping in, answering calls and covering shifts, which is a great opportunity to get direct engagement with their clients and caregivers.
“It’s like all this adrenaline that just keeps pumping every day and you can see the potential in our original plan already coming through,” said Todd. “It is a refreshing change, knowing everything that you are working on is making an immediate and direct impact on the business, and you are making real impacts on people’s lives.”
