Heather Logelin was a student at St. Cloud State University when she unexpectedly had to undergo brain surgery due to the discovery of a tumor. Heather found herself relying on a team of caregivers through this very emotional and tough journey. Heather experienced first-hand the relentless care and dedication that nurses provide.

Later in life, Heather would find herself stepping into franchise ownership with BrightStar Care - one she hadn’t foreseen until she recognized the significant impact the nurses and caregivers had on her life.

Searching for ways to Pay it Forward

Prior to becoming a franchise owner, Heather had an opportunity to learn about the franchise industry through business development in technology solutions for various startup companies. These career opportunities allowed her to build relationships with franchise owners. The motivation and passion the franchise owners had for their businesses ignited a fire in Heather to become an entrepreneur.

As Heather searched for the best franchise opportunity, she came across many different franchise concepts but none of them seemed to be a good fit. When she discovered BrightStar Care, she was astonished by how well their core values aligned with her personal values. “It was almost scary how much sense it made to invest in BrightStar Care,” Heather explained. “It was exactly what I was looking for and I thought to myself, ‘why would I not do this?”

Although Heather graduated with a degree in marketing and sales, she was always surrounded by family members who worked in health care. Heather’s personal experience combined with witnessing the passion her family members had for helping others was the motivation she needed to dedicate herself to serving people as well. “I truly believe that I received my entrepreneurial spirit from my father and my love for healthcare from my mother and sisters,” Heather expressed.

Impacting the Lives of Others

“The nurses took such good care of me and from that moment on, I began searching for the opportunity to impact someone else’s life,” said Heather.

Heather was eager to start the franchise owner process and begin serving members of her community. She signed her franchise agreement in March 2022 and plans to open her very first location in September 2022, which will serve the Maple Grove and Andover area in Minnesota.

While her home healthcare agency is getting geared up to open in the fall, Heather is busy working towards earning a CNA license. She plans to be hands-on within her BrightStar Care franchise, not only as an owner, but an employee. “Being an owner is truly an honor but I also plan on working CNA shifts because I genuinely want to help my staff and our clients,” said Heather.

As Heather is hiring the best nurses and caregivers for her franchise, she is very clear that she wants employees who will treat clients like their loved ones and make an active effort to positively impact someone’s life. “I’m not looking for people to work for me, I’m looking for people to work with me,” said Heather.
