Embarking on a transformative journey from the culinary world to the realm of compassionate care, Rawah Hassan’s evolution to becoming a BrightStar Care franchisee encapsulates the essence of dynamic entrepreneurship and a profound commitment to community service. Her move from running a successful restaurant business to leading a healthcare franchise tells a story of resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to making a significant impact.
A Legacy of Entrepreneurial Excellence
Before healthcare, Rawah worked in accounting and finance as an Assistant Vice President for Chase Bank, where she worked long hours. “I thought to myself, you know what? I’m giving someone else my hours and time, so why not consider owning my own business?”
Since that moment of inspiration, Rawah bought a brand new restaurant franchise and built the restaurant from the ground up for a decade. “It was rewarding, but then I just got tired of the restaurant business,” she states. “I decided that I was going to retire, but I realized that I can’t just sit and do nothing. I can never retire, I want to work!”
Driven by Personal Experiences
Rawah's journey into the healthcare industry and her discovery of BrightStar Care are closely related to her personal life. She first became familiar with BrightStar Care and the healthcare sector through her mother, who is a client of BrightStar Care, while her brother showed her more about the healthcare industry and our brand. “I’m the oldest of my siblings and I feel like that’s instilled in me a passion for wanting to help and support others,” Rawah states. “I always like to help in any way or shape if I can, and at this point in my life and career, it’s not about money anymore, it’s about helping the community.”
Inspired by those personal experiences, Rawah decided to do some research on BrightStar Care. Soon, she was impressed with the business model and Shelly Sun, the Founder and Executive Chairwoman of BrightStar Care. “I’m a big fan of women-owned businesses,” Rawah states. “Once I talked to Shelly, I was truly inspired by her example. I’ve even told my daughters about her and how strong she is, that’s really inspiring and so important to me.”
The BrightStar Care Example
Inspired by this introduction to BrightStar Care, Rawah's admiration and interest grew as she learned about our extensive support and training. She lauds the empowering community of franchisees and our comprehensive, accessible support network. "Their community is amazing. The training and support are there whenever I need it,” Rawah states. And then there’s the whole community network, too. I talk to other franchisees, who are eager to help me. They want to grow together, so it’s really great support across the whole brand.”
Reflecting on her career pivot, Rawah shares, "After a fulfilling journey in the restaurant industry, I wanted a path that would enable me to make a deeper contribution to others,” Rawah states. “BrightStar Care allows me to realize these aspirations and make a difference in my community.”
Cultivating Community and Collaborative Ties
Rawah plans to open her location in May in the Irving/Dallas area of Texas. Anticipating the launch of her franchise, Rawah is passionate about nurturing robust community relationships and developing a cohesive network of healthcare professionals. “I’m hoping to make a difference in my area,” Rawah states. “There is nothing more important than being able to help a child or an elder. I see that through the care BrightStar Care provides to my mother, and I’m ready to make that same impact here.”
